Praise

minkymorgan has some nice things to say about our Love Lewisham application:

"I'm so very impressed with the London Borough of Lewisham's efforts to clean up its streets with an innovative software application called "Love Lewisham." It lets local residents use their mobile phones' cameras to photograph and report local incidents of vandalism and fly-tipping."

Norm interprets Marx

I can't comment on the methodology, but the Feuerbach XI doesn't look half bad.

One thing though, I wonder if Marx might have chosen Richard Hadlee over Shaun Pollock?

Harry's retirement

I see that Harry's retirement from the 'sphere makes The Observer:

"Harry, a Labour Party member and briefly a youthful member of the Communist Party, has acquired cult status among surfers, activists and journalists since founding the site three years ago. But in a final posting last week, he announced he would no longer be contributing, for 'personal reasons'"

I started reading Harry three or so years ago when he was writing about the further fringes of the Left (and some would say not much has changed) and I've been reading his stuff pretty much ever since.

So in my small way I'd want to say fairwell.  Except of course it's not, well not quite.

More recycling

Owen Teale helps Lewisham recycle more:

"Owen Teale said: "Each household in Lewisham produces a tonne of rubbish per year and yet 65% of that can be recycled. I'm backing this campaign as I want to help spread the word that recycling is really important. And with collections in Lewisham going weekly there are no more excuses."

Owen lives locally and I've been told that he's been really helpful on this campaign.

Black History Month

October is Black History Month and Greenwich and Lewisham councils have put their heads together to create this website which gives the programme of events.

Former Lewisham Councillor makes good

Tim Barnett MP

"Today I was joined by someone who I last met 17 years ago, Ann Sydney, a visitor from London and Labour party activist from my days (1986-8) as a borough (city) councillor in the London Borough of Lewisham, representing the Hither Green Ward. "

Looks like Andrew's long distance campaigning paid off.
